Investing in Romania: Competitive Advantages and Incentives

Together with Valentin Filip and other members of the Fortech Investments team, Irina will be presenting on the investment advantages and opportunities of Romania. Over the past 20 years, Romania has emerged as a vibrant tech ecosystem, with both domestic and international investments growing strongly. Romania is also a major source of tech talent, and is expected to continue this role in the future. The Investing in Romania track will provide participants with a detailed overview of tax, legal and incentives for investing in Romania, as well as other practical case studies and advice from successful investments made in the country.

Irina Misca is part of the Fortech Investments team, a Romanian private investor and strategic partner for seed and late-seed start-ups across Healthcare, Energy, Automotive, Manufacturing, and FinTech. With investments in 17 start-ups from 7 countries,  her role includes overseeing portfolio growth, making strategic introductions, and preparing companies for exit opportunities.

 

Irina is also actively involved in sourcing new investments and forging partnerships, with a special focus on supporting women’s initiatives and entrepreneurship by collaborating with organizations like European Women in VC, Level 20.

 

She is a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in both Cyprus and Romania, where she worked with the largest insolvency firm in Romania for over a decade having coordinated, to date, over 150 complex insolvency and pre-insolvency projects. She has extensive experience in the restructuring and turnaround of businesses spanning multiple industry sectors, such as health, retail and real estate.

Irina is currently working on a Master of Science in Business Management with a focus on Organizational Psychology at Steinbeis School Berlin. She previously earned her Masters in Law and International Relations from the Babes Bolyai University in 2012 and an AltMBA from Seth Godin in 2021.
